Floating Island Pop Card

Floating Island Pop Card

in 2017 While browsing the web I came across a very cool, flat landscape/island design. at that time I was trying to improve my After Effects skills and wanted to mess around with 3D and camera angles, so at my spare time i took on the challenge to bring this illustrationn to life.

A Christmas Card

I recreated this landscape island in Photoshop and brought it into After Effects. With a few tricks, some camera angle changes and lighting effects, I had a full animation.

Floating Island

in 2017 I was a lead digital designer at Ivie and Associates, an agency mostly focused on its Print Department. Around christmas time as costume we were tasked to design the company’s christmas card. In an effort to bring value to our digital Team and our capabilities, I proposed a Digital interactive card to go along with the printed version. As i looked around for inspiration My original island animation resemble a lot of the look of a pop-up card.

So with that in mind i changed my assets to a more Christmas/winter look and showed it to the owners of the company (Ivie family). They loved the card, and wanted to make it personal, so I added a flip and their signature to the back.

A Christmas Card

At the time their daughter had just released a new album on spotify so they also requested that i added her song as a background music. I added the song and to their delight i also added a Scan code so anyone could easily add the song to their spotify playlist (I also added the same scan code to the printed card).

To top it all off i designed and developed an html site to host the video along with the card and a final message from the Ivie Family.

Animating the original island took me almost 2 months, but the Ivie card including the HMTL site took me less than 2 weeks, which was right in time for christmas.
